Sakaguchi and associates made statistical stu-dy on 200 cases of traumatic rupture of tym-panic membrane that were accumulated in the 9 years post-war period. The outstanding cause of such injury appeared to be established with slaps by open palm of hand delivered on the ear. Predominantly during the war recipient of this type of injury was males but, after the war, the table has turned and the females by far out-number the males; and the majority of the injured are among the housewives. This fact is interesting to note in that it seems to reflect the habits and customs that are practi-ced unrestraiced and social fabric of the nation.
