夢を科学する余の見解

　余の「夢に於ける嗅覚並に慢性副鼻腔炎患者の夢に就て」（日・耳・会55巻1号）及び「夢に於ける感覚特に嗅覚に就て」（耳科27巻1号）なる所論に対して先輩，同学の士から数々の御高教，御批判を与えられていることは，学徒として光栄であり且つ感謝に堪えないところである。

　尚，先頃，この所論について夢の研究は自然科学としての医学の限界を超えるものであるとの御批判があつたので，これに対する卑見を開陳する。

Ichihara states that his interest in the study of dreams is not by any means the contents of the dreams. But, dreams from the stand point of the psychosomatic make up of the individual who dreams: particularly from the point of view relative to the diseases of the ear, nose and throat as well as to the sense of smell.
