SUGAI reports a case of nasal polyp that has been enlarged to an enormous size that occupied the entire nasal cavity on one side and also the postnasal space posteriorly. The patient, a fisherman aged 54, complained of the blockage of the nose which had been present for the last 8 years but, a recent aggravation of symptoms by increase in malodorous, blood tinged nasal discharge, impaired hearing on the affected side, disturbance of vision with pain in that eye. Fearing malignancy, the growth was removed necessarily in parts by Denker operation on the maxillary sinus. However, the sinus mucous membrane proved to be uninvolved in contributing towards formation of this polyp ; the latter is found to be arising from the middle meatus. Histologically the growth is found to be a cystoadenomatous polyp with no signs of malignant changes. After removal of the polyp the patient recovered from all symptoms excepting the hearing loss. The growth weighed 116 grams ; the author claims the largest ever reported in the literature of this country.
