TAKAHASHI AND TANIGUCHI find that, wh-en pressure is applied to the external canal in a normal ear, there is a slowing in the pulse beat; in the perforated ear, a hastening. But, such a pressure applied to those who were af-fected with inner ear diese brought results th-at were equally distributed among the group, increased, decreased and no change.

The authors believe the changes that are el-icited in the normal ear are due stimulation of the parasympathetic nerves and in the perfor-ated ear to that of the sympathetic. The vari-ed results encountered in the inner ear disease may be due to various conditions under which functional balance in both ears carried out.
