1910年鈴木氏のビタミンBの研究以來,各種ビタミンの化學構造,生理作用並びに理化學的性質,更らに其の合成等,ビタミンに關する研究はあらゆる分野に於て發展進歩して居るのであつて,これに伴つて組織化學的にビタミンを研索する努力も盛んであり,その結果組織内に於けるビタミンの所在,性状等も順次明らかになつて來ている。
然るに耳鼻咽喉科領域に於て,ビタミンとの關係は主として,その缺乏時の病理のみを研索し.組織内ビタミンを追及した研究は極めて少い。而して慢性副鼻腔炎については,その病理組織,細菌學的研究,遺傳學的研索等がよく究められて居るに拘らず,尚證明し盡されない點が多々ある。ここに於て副鼻腔粘膜についてビタミンの有無,その分布,程度等を組織化學的に研索して,副鼻腔炎粘膜病理の一端をうかがい,副鼻腔炎についての1知見を加えんとしたのである。
By using microchemical method, Tanabe made determination of the presence of vita-min C, A and D in the mucous membranes of paranasal sinus that were afflicted with chronic sinusitis. As an indicator of vitamin C the extremely minute particles of reduced silver were found in the intercellular spaces of the epithelial layer of the mucous mem-brane, of hypertrophied reticular tissues and among their divided individual fibers; intra-cellularly, aroud the nucleus in groups or in isolated spots. The number of these particles were found greater in the mucous membranes that were edematous but, less in those which were affected with polypoid degenerations. Particles that appeared to indicate the presence of vitamin A and D were recognized in forms, more irregular and large. These were found in the intercellular spaces of the epithelial layers, the cells surrounding the glandular cells and the reticular cells.
