Nomura report a case of otitis media that progressed to death of the patient from mastoiditis and intracranial complications. The cause of the comgli-cations are ascribed to possible concealment of sympoms which ordinarily would be recognized by use of penicillin (2,440,000) from the very beginning of the onest of otitis media anp by which operative treatment was undully delayed. The patient complain-ed of localized unilateral headache from the start of the otitis, a fact which calls for consideration with with a great importance, and it is suggestive that extJa-dural abcess might have been present from that time. There was no evidence either by clinical examination or necropsy that petrositis was involved in the picture. Staphylococcus aureus alone was found to be the causative organism.
