TAKEDA reports a case of intracranial abcess that originated from otitic infections. The patient died. The diagnosis of cholestea-tomatous otitis media with cerebral involve-ment the offending organism of which being Preteus Vulgaris was established. Operation on the temporal bone with ample drainage of the cerebral abcess that was supplemented by use of aureomycin, streptomycin, penicillin and sulfa drugs were without avail. Necropsy showed that the infection had spread from the mastoid cells into the cerebrum and, thence, into the cerebellum where an abcess that measured 7×5cm was found.
