喉頭癌に於ける惡性度判定上の基礎

　癌腫の惡性度と言う問題は今日尚未解決で種々の議論があるが，それは惡性度なる定義が非常に漠然としていて何処に基準を置いて惡性度を決めたらよいかが学者によつて一定していないためである．私の茲に言う惡性度とは米國でhistological grading of malignancyと言われている事項に就てである．

　癌の惡性度と言うものが今日迄如何なる風に考えられて來たかを檢討してみると大体二つの考え方があるようである．

　Iwamoto examined histological specimens from cancer of larynx which was. removed from 84 patients in search for criteria upon which to base the grading of malignancy among them. These specimens were relatively large in size to cover in it the center of growth as well as the periphery where cell activities have been arrested. Observations were made on seven points of interest which seemed to have close relationship to incidence of recurrence following surgical removal or, in other words, prognosis of the disease.
