Harada treated 60 cases of inflammatory dise-ases in various stages of infection, 36 cases of which in the acute and 24 cases in chronic stage, by intra-arterial injections of strong dextrose solution as basal therapeutic agent. By this me-thod of treatment early cases were cured by administration of one or two injections, while the late cases in which inflammation had advan-ced to the stage of pus formation resulted in more copious discharge of pus which eventually led to cure. However, complicated cases that had developed sub-mandibular lymphadenitis or Bezold abcess from mastoiditis necessarily re-duired proper surgical interventions. In chronic infections the results were favorable in otitis media which showed continuous discharge of thin pus or polypoid growths through the perfo-ration of tympanic membrane. Particularly was the treatment favorable towards alleviating po-stoperative neuritic pains which resulted from radical maxillary sinus operations and for reliving symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis, the improve-ment of which was shown by marked decrease of eosinophile counts. Relief of pain and subsi-dence of edema was also seen in treatment of laryngeal tuberculosis but, cases in which ulce-rations were found the results were less favora-ble and questionable.
