It is known that there are a number of variationand anomalies in the bifurcation of the external andinternal carotid arteries. It has also been reportedthat the lateral position of the external carotidartery,which was formerly considered extremely rare, is notso unusual. However, there are few reports that thelateral position of the external carotid artery hascaused neurological signs.
