I．はじめに

　computed tomography（CT）が開発されてまもなく，ヨード系血管造影剤使用によるcontrast enhancement（CE）効果が報告されたが^1），その効果を左右する因子としては，造影剤の種類，量，投与方法あるいは投与後のCT scan開始までの時間等，造影剤に関連した因子のほかに，被検者側の因子として，血液中の造影剤濃度，vascularity^12,25,29），および造影剤の血管外漏出（extravasation）^{10,11,21,24）}が考えられている．

　今回われわれは，通常のCEでは比較的enhanceされにくいといわれる良性gliomaに対して^{15,18,24,30,33）}，造影剤投与後の時間経過に伴うCE効果の変化を調べたところ，delayed scanにおけるCE効果は，主として造影剤のextravasationによる^15）という結論に至った．そこでこの考えに基づき，CE効果の増強を目的として，高浸透圧剤（glycerol）をあらかじめ投与したのちに，CE scanを行ったところ，有意と思われる結果を得たので，その方法等について報告する．

In some cases of glioma, it may he relatively difficult to demonstrate by computed tomography (CT), or even by contrast enhancement technique (CE).

Studying a series of delayed CT scans, it seems that one of the main factors of delayed CE effect is due to extravascular components of iodine. So for getting better CE effect in these gliomas, we tried to increase the extravascular iodine concentration with utilizing the returning water of intravenously administrated Glycerol.
