下垂体窩膿瘍—1手術治験例と文献的考察

Abscess Formation in the Pituitary Fossa:Report of a Case and Review of Literatures

Ⅰ．はじめに

　下垂体，或いはトルコ鞍部の疾患の1つに，下垂体腫瘍と同様な症状を呈し，また頭蓋単純写，脳血管写等諸検査においても，これと鑑別の困難なものに下垂体窩膿瘍がある．しかし，本疾患は国内外の文献をみわたしても，その症例報告は非常に稀であり，Simonds,J．P．^7）によれば，最初の記載は1848年Heslopによりなされているが，以来内外文献において，我々が現在まで渉猟し得た範囲では，50例を数えるのみである．

　最近我々は下垂体窩膿瘍の1症例を経験したので，その症状，原因等について若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する．

Abscess of the pituitary fossa was first reported about a century ago. However, this disease have been infrequently reported and only 50 cases can be found in the medical literatures.

On this paper, an additional case with sphenoidal sinusitis was reported.

The case, 38 year old housewife, was addmitted to our hospital with complaints of left sided loss of visual acuity and blurred vision. She was treated with intracranial surgery under the preoperative diagnosis of pituitary tumor, and abscess formation in the pituitary fossa was found.
