  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Cartilaginous tumors arising from the skull base have been histologically diagnosed as either chondroma, osteochondroma or chnodrosarcoma, according to their histopathological characteristics. However, there has been some controversy as to the nature and origin of these tumors.

In the other note (11), we described an autopsy of a giant osteochondroma arising from the posterior clinoid process. From the gross and histological examinations, we presumed that the tumor was not enchondromatous, but rather osteochondromatous in nature, similar to osteochondroma originating from the skeleton.
