 In our previous 3H-thymidine autoradiographic studies6,8,9), it was shown that motor neurons, a part of interneurons of the zona spongiosa and the zona intermedia and primary sensory neurons in the ventrolateral part of the spinal ganglion developed at stages 14 to 20 (Fig.1).

 All of these early developing spinal interneurons sent their axon ventralwards (Fig.2). As the stage advanced, the stem axon of spinal interneurons entered the contralateral ventral or the ipsilateral ventrolateral funiculus to bifurcate there into an ascending and descending funicular axon (Fig.3).
