Abstract

Fourteen post-mortem brains of schizophrenic patients were biochemically analyzed comparing with 10 controls. Brains were divided into the basal ganglia (5 parts), 3 nuclei in the midbrain, thalamus (5 parts), hippocampus (4 parts), tempo-ral gyros (4 parts including insular cortex) andprefrontal cortex (4 parts).

Dopamine concentrations of schizophrenics (S) did not differ from those of controls (C) in the n. caudatus, putamen, n. accumbens, substantia nigra, n. ruber and n. subthalamicus.
