Abstract

The regaining of maximal functional capacities after CNS lesions is the primary aim in medical rehabilitation. Although there is ambiguity in the meaning and usage of the term'function' whichis usually used in two meanings : the one is the work performed by the corresponding tissue and the other is the complex adaptive activity of a subject (Luria et al.), the regaining of function means a return to normal or near-normal levels of performance for the present purpose.

In medical rehabilitation the term 'disability' is classified into two classes: the primary and the secondary disability.
