  • Look Inside

Forty cases of juvenile type of Parkinson's disease ( J-PA), starting before the age of forty, were analyzed in various clinical aspects, i.e. familial history, age of onset, symptoms and courses, and response to L-DOPA therapy. In the author's statistics and also in report covering several neurology departments in Japan, J-PA is about 10% in number of Parkinson's disease including the classical (I-PA) and the juvenile type ( J-PA).

The mean age of onset is 26.1 years of age±9.6, mean age at examination is 38.9 years ±9.3 and the course of illness is 12.8 years ±8.2, which is longer than that of I-PA.
