Werdnig-Hoffmann病の脊髄根内"glial bundle"の病理学的検討

Pathological investigation on the "glial bundle" in the spinal nerve root of Werdnig-Hoffmann disease

I．はじめに

　Werdnig-Hoffmann病（W-HD）は，従来，脊髄前角を主とする下位運動ニューロンの変性による疾患であり，従って広義のいわゆるmotor neuron diseaseの範疇に属するものとされてきた。

　ところが，1971年Chou ＆ Fakadej^2）は，1剖検例の検索で，以前には単にfibrosisとして一括記載されていた脊髄前根の近位部に著明なグリア線維の増殖からなるglial bundleを見出し，これが本症のprimary lesionである可能性を指摘した。

1. Spinal roots and others of an autopsied case of Werdnig-Hoffmann disease. 2¹⁰/₁₂-year-old girl, were studied with light and electron microscopy.

2. "Glial bundles" in the roots of Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, described in 1971 by Chou and Fakadej, was confirmed in the proximal anterior spinal roots.

3. The "glial bundles" were considered to be certain products of altered cells originated from the neural crest.
