  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Progressive muscular dystrophy (PMD) is regard-ed as what is called a myogenic disease which begins with a primary disturbance in skeletal muscle itself and which becomes progressive one by degenerative changes. Even at present, however, its substantial form and etiology have not been clear.

Recently neurogenic facter theory has come to the fore: the motor nerve innervating the affected muscle of PMD is suffered from a primary disturb-ance which leads to the muscle disease.
