1) Twenty-five autopsy cases of severe physically a d mentally handicapped were examined, especially refered to pathological changes of cerebellum.

2) Our cases were classified into four groups based on cause or etiology.

 a) CNS. malformation group (prenatal). ; 4 cases.

 b) birth injury group (prenatal) ; 13 cases.

 c) encephalopathy or encephalitis group (postnatal) ; 5 cases.

 d) cerebellar disease group (spinocerebellar degeneration) ; 3 cases.
