はじめに

　パーキンソン病などの神経疾患に対して，脳内細胞移植という方法を用いて治療しようとする試みは，1970年代の後半から研究が行われてきたが，近年の分子生物学的手法の発達と神経幹細胞に関する研究の進歩により，今後さらに進展の期待される分野である。

　脳内細胞移植の目的は，ドナー細胞からの神経伝達物質や神経栄養因子の宿主脳内への供給にある。特に，神経栄養因子を供給することによって，宿主の内因性の神経系を保護したり，回復を促進する方法は，内因性の神経回路の再構築をめざす方法であり，再生医学の観点からは，欠落した神経伝達物質を移植によって補う方法に比べて，より理想的ともいえるであろう。

One of the objectives of neural transplantation for neurological disorders is to deliver neurotransmitters or neurotrophic factors into the host brain. Neurotrophic factor delivery is considered more ideal because neuronal circuit reconstruction of the host can be expected by this method.
