  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Recently it has been reported that patients with progres-sive (hormone refractory) prostate cancer treated with combined androgen blockade had a significant fall in serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) when flutamide was discontinued.

We herein report a similar case in a 65-year old patient in whom the steroidal antiandrogen chlormadinone ace-tate (CAM) was withdrawn.

In conclusions, antiandrogen withdrawal syndrome manifested as fall in PSA and clinical improvement may be a general phenomenon, not unique to flutamide.
