緒言

　1人の患者に同時あるいは異時性に複数の異なる臓器癌が発生した場合，多重癌と呼ばれている^1）。当初はもの珍しさという観点から多くの症例報告がなされてきた。しかし，癌患者が長期生存する機会が多くなつた昨今，これは決して珍しい現象ではなく，むしろこの問題を通じて癌発生のある側面を考察しようとする試みがふえてきた^2）。癌の疫学的分布や環境因子との関連を踏まえて，一定の患者集団としてその特徴を眺めてみる必要があると思われる。以下，国立がんセンターで治療した泌尿性器癌のうち，もつとも数の多い膀胱癌をとりあげて重複癌の問題を考察した。

For the past 20 years, we have treated 500 cases of bladder cancer. Of them, 40 cases (8%) were double cancer and they were analyzed in terms of involoved organs, time factors, type of bladder cancer, familiar aggregation of cancer, blood type, cigarette smoking and radiation. No positive results were obtained applicable to the explanation of double primary cancer between bladder and other organs. Special comments were made on the necessity of cancer registry, mechanism of high susceptibility to cancers and factors contributing to the manifestation of occult cancer.
