  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

From April 1977 to December 1978, 81 patients out of 595 with hematuria (13.6%) were treated as so-called idiopathic renal hematuria in our clinic.

Thirty-six patients were further selected in order to evaluate the etiology of hematuria by renal angio-graphy and/or renal biopsy. Two patients showed abnormal findings in renal angioraphy, 2 patients had pathological changes in both renal angiography and renal biopsy specimens, and further glomerular lesions were found in 29 patients. The most common glomerular lesion was IgA nephropathy (25/31). Therefore, there were only 3 patients (8.7%) with renal hematuria of unknown etiology.
