In a 12-year-old girl with pheochromocytoma and hypercalcemia, the urinary catecholamine and serum calcium returned to normal after removal of the adrenal pheochromocytoma. Levels of serum parathyroid hormone and calcitonin were normal before and after the surgery. The content of para-thyroid hormone in the tumor tissue was too low to measure. It was suggested that parathyroid hormone-like substances, prostaglandins or some other unknown calcium mobilizing substances were produced by the pheochromocytoma.
