女子の急迫尿失禁に対するvaginal deviceについて

A VAGINAL DEVICE FOR STRESS INCONTINENCE IN THE FEMALE

緒言

　日常臨床において女子の急迫尿失禁を如何に治療するかは，泌尿器科医にとつて一つの課題である。しばしば手術の対象となり，その成功率は80〜90％^1）ともいわれるが，必ずしも満足できない。しかも比較的高齢者に多いこともあり，はじめから手術に応じない人も少なくない。そこで根治的な治療法ではないが，なんらかの理由で手術ができない例あるいは手術失敗例などに対し，急迫尿失禁防止のためのvaginal deviceを考案し使用してみた。比較的簡単な器具で予想外の好成績を得ているので報告する。

A vaginal device for stress incontinence is described. It is cylindrical and made of latex sponge. Our initial series consisted of 8 patients who used the device for more than 6 months, and in 7 cases the effect was satisfactory. We believe that for the patients in whom surgical repairs fail or who, because of advanced age or severe associated illness, are not likely candidates for surgery, the vaginal device is effective in preventing leakage of urine because it provides broad compression on the anterior vaginal wall with direct press on the urethra.
