  • Look Inside

A case of acoustic tumor, in which audiogram revealed 1kHz dip of 65 dB hearing level, sugges-tive of sudden deafness was reported.

By amidotrizoate and steroid therapy, clinical symptoms were completely improved. In caloric test and ABR, the responses were almost normal. Internal auditory meatus on the Stenvers projec-tion was within normal range. A small tumor was detected by MRI with Gadlinium-DTPA en-hancement.

In the diagnosis of small tumor within the internal auditory meatus, MRI is presently the most useful examination.

In a few cases, clinical courses of acoustic tumor are atypical, and the progress must be carefully followed even with recovery of symptoms.
