  • Look Inside

Since the first description of temporal bone histopathological findings of trisomy 13 syndrome by Mottet and Jensen in 1965, 17 cases have been reported until 1991. We report temporal bone pathological findings of 3 patients (5 ears) with trisomy 13 syndrome.

The inner ear : The cochlear aqueduct was wider (4 ears) and cochlear length was short (2 ears).

The middle car : The tympanic cavity was entirely filled with primitive mesenchymal tissue (5 ears). Facial nerve showed obtuse angle at the geniculate turn (5 ears). Stapes was deformed (2 ears). These pathological findings suggest the presense of these conductive deafness in these cases.
