はじめに
頸部筋膜間隙に広範囲に広がった感染症は総称してdeep neck infectionと呼ばれているが，抗生剤の進歩によりこの種の疾患は年々減少している。今回われわれは膿胸を合併したdeep neckinfectionの症例を経験したので報告する。
A 44-year-old male presented with throat pain, high fever, dysphagia, dyspnea, and a swelling of the neck.
The patient sustained high fever in spite of intensive chemotherapy. When pyothorax was suspected on chest x-ray findings, drainage of the neck and thorax was performed. Pyothorax was not controlled and thoracotomy and drainage of the thorax were repeated. The patient was finally recovered and discharged uneventfully.
Importance of early and intensive treatments was stressed in this paper.
