Anti-tumor Effect of 5-Fu Single-High Dose Infusion for Head and Neck Cancer

　はじめに

　5—Fuは消化器癌に対して開発されたが，S-phaseに作用するtime-dependentな薬剤であるため頭頸部癌に対しても抗腫瘍効果が認められ，とくにシスプラチンとの相乗効果のために，併用療法として用いられる場合が多いが，その単独効果については報告が少ない。ロイコボリンに代表されるbiochemical modulationの発達とともに，頭頸部癌に占める5—Fu化学療法の比重はますます大きくなると思われ，今回頭頸部癌における5—Fu単独投与による抗腫瘍効果について評価を行った。

The tumor response and clinical effect of 5-Fu single-high dose administration were evaluated in 24 head and neck cancer patients. Of 20 patients with squamous cell cancer, complete response (CR) was observed in one patient (5%) and partial response (PR) in 11 (55%). The promi-nant toxicity was composed of vasculitis/pigmen-tetion, anorexia, diarrhea, leucopenia, which, however, were mild and well tolerable. This study suggests that 5-Fu single-high dose therapy is effective in head and neck squamous cell cancer, and this effect is expected to be augmented by biochemical modulation.
