A 77-year-old man complained of unusual dysphagia with involuntary repetitive jaw movement(2 Hz). When he ingested solid foods, an abnormal repetitive jaw movement began with a head rotation to the left lasting for 2 to 3 minutes. The patient could not intentionally stop the jaw movement. However, the abnormal jaw movement finally ended with a forceful protrusive movement of the jaw to the left, followed by movement of the food bolus to the mid-pharyngeal cavity, allowing a reflex swallowing movement. A CT image revealed a tonsillolith in the palatine tonsil on the right side. After tonsillectomy, the abnormal jaw movement decreased, and the patient could ingest solid foods easily.
