“Vascular tumor”and“vascular malformation”of the head and neck are often called“hemangioma”. The definite classification of vascular tumor and vascular malformation are often difficult. According to the classification of International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomaly:ISSVA classification, vascular tumor and vascular malformation are classified based on endothelial behavior. Generally called“hemangioma”in adult is mostly“vascular malformation”by the pathological diagnosis. As vascular malformation does not disappear naturally, it usually requires active treatment including excision. The definite classification of vascular tumor and vascular malformation based on ISSVA classification is very important for decision making of the appropriate treatment plan.
