Angiolipomas are located in the subcutaneous tissues, most commonly in the extremities. They were not found to be formed on the face, scalp, palms or the soles of the feet. So far, no report of angiolipoma in the parotid gland is found in the literature.

A woman, aged 28, complained of a painless swelling under her right ear. On examination, a mobile, painless, elastic soft swelling in the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland just below the right auricle, the size of an egg, was found.

Under a general anaesthesia an encapsulated tumor 4 cm in diameter was removed from the superficial lobe of the parotid gland.

 Microscopical examination revealed a lipoma.

Histologically the tumor was encapsulated in a thin connective tissue capsule. The ratio of the adipose to that of the vascular tissues was predominantly lipomatous with a small angiolipomatous foci. The fat cells were unusually mature. In the angiomatous component a few erythrocytes could be seen among the closely aligned capillaries.

No recurrence occurred postoperatively. Angiolipoma of the parotid gland is very rarely encountered disease.
