  • Look Inside

A 51-year-old male presented with hyperemia and blurring of vision in his left eye. He had had penetrat-ing injury to his left eye by pieces of glass 40 years before. An iris cyst was present occupying the superotemporal quadrant of left anterior chamber. The lens showed posterior subcapsular cataract and was displaced posteriorly by the iris cyst. Because of ocular pain and deteriorating vision, we perforated the cyst wall using a multicolor laser. The iris cyst shrank, ocular pain disappeared, and the vision improved. The left eye had astigmatism of -4.75D before treat-ment, -7.25D 3 days after treatment, and -2.0D 5 months later. The spherical power was -3.625D before treat-ment, -6.325D 3 days later and -5.0D 5 months later. The changes in refraction seemed to have been induced by an-terior displacement of the lens after collapse of iris cyst followed later by gradual posterior shift of the lens.
