  • Look Inside

We measured the peripheral visual acuity in 10 eyes of 10 healthy young adults. We used a scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) with attachment for visumetry. All the eyes showed visual acuity of 0.16 or more within the area 5 degrees from the fovea. The visual acuity decreased along with the distance from the fovea. The visual acuity along the horizontal meridian was better than along the vertical meridian. SLO visumetry was thus useful in determining the focal visual acuity.
