  • Look Inside

In a consecutive series of 1,116 cataract surgeries, collapse of anterior chamber or iris prolapse occur-red in 45 instances, 4.0%. As risk factors for in-creased vitreous pressure, we identified systemichypertension, acute rise in blood pressure duringsurgery, obesity in females and myopia. In thesehigh-risk cases, we advocate more strict control ofblood pressure before and after surgery, eye mas-sage and deep topical anesthesia.
