  • Look Inside

A 24-year-old female presented with bilateral ocular pain, eyelid swelling, and difficulty in open-ing the eyes. She had received diclofenac suppository for fever and laryngitis 5 days before. Immediately thereafter, she developed erosions in the oral cavity, generalized eruptions and blisters, and eye manifesta-tions. When seen by us, she had severe pseudomembranous conjunctivitis, generalized erythema, and pneu-monia. These findings led to the diagnosed of drug-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome. She was then treated with systemic corticosteroid and antibiotics, removal of pseudomembrane, and prophylactic measures against secondary infection. Pseudomembrane with exudates started to decrease 10 days later and almost dis-appeared 20 days after start of treatment. One year after onset, the patient is doing well with mild conjuncti-val scarring and keratoconjunctivitis sicca. This case illustrates that energetic treatment soon after onset in-duced a fair outcome in this syndrome.
