　空間光変調素子に表示された電子的映像を，ダイオードレーザー光を用いてマックスウェル視させることにより，焦点深度の深い明瞭な像を屈折異常に関係なく直接網膜上に呈示する網膜投影装置を視覚補助器として作製した。試作器では，屈折異常の矯正の有無にかかわらず像は明瞭に観察された。12例の偏心固視患者で読書拡大器として使用した場合，ヘッドマウントディスプレイ装置と比較して読書速度においては有意差はなかった。6例では網膜投影装置で文字の輪郭がより明瞭に見えた。装置の光軸を瞳孔領に合わせるのに時間がかかるが，視覚補助器として使用できる可能性がある。

We developed a retinal projection system as a low-vision aid. A digital image is formed by spatial light modulator and red diode laser in this system. This image is then projected onto the retina with the maxwellian view. The projected image is seen clearly by the observer with no need to correct refraction error. This system was used as closed-circuit television in 12 low-vision persons with central scotoma. There was no difference in reading speed be-tween this sytem and face-mounted display. Six of the 12 persons saw clearer characteres with the system than head-mounted display. While the present system takes time in bringing the focused light to the pupillary area, it promises to be useful as a low-vision aid.
