An automated flicker perimeter using a personal computer

　パーソナルコンピュータを用いるフリッカー自動視野計を開発した。視野中央の直径60度以内の59点での矩形波光に対する時間変調閾値を20Hzで測定できる。正常者256眼と高眼圧症眼にこれを応用した。フリッカー感度は中心から周辺に離れるにつれて低下し，高年齢者ほど低下した。Bracketingにtendency-oriented perimetry （TOP）の手法を加えたプログラムで，短時間での測定ができ，固視が安定し疲労が少なく，再現性のある結果が得られた。高眼圧症眼ではフリッカー感度の低下が鋭敏に検出された。本装置により短時間でフリッカー視野が測定でき，緑内障性視神経障害の早期検出が可能であり，明度識別自動視野と同様な臨床的価値がある。

We developed an automated flicker perimeter using a personal computer. It measures the flicker sensitiv-ity at 59 points within 30 degrees from the fixation point. We applied this method to 256 normal eyes and some with ocular hypertension. The flicker sensitivity declined towards the periphery and with advanced age. The present method allowed measurement within a short duration, better fixation and less fatigue, and reproducible results. Eyes with ocular hypertension showed decreased flicker sensitivity with precision. The present method provides a rapid and sensitive test for early detection of glaucomatous optic nerve disorders.
