  • Look Inside

We reviewed 22 eyes which received macular translocation surgery for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization. The series comprised age-related macular degeneration (AMD) 14 eyes, high myopia 7 eyes and angioid streaks 1 eye. Intra- or postoperative complication developed in 21 eyes (95%). They comprised : emulsified DK line 1 eye, subretinal aberration of DK line 5 eyes, detachment of retinal pigment epithelium 2 eyes, ocular hypertension 12 eyes, fibrinogenesis in the anterior chamber 8 eyes, aftercataract 6 eyes, hyphema 3 eyes, anterior migration of silicone oil 3 eyes, retinal detachment 2 eyes of AMD, pupillary block 1 eye and dislocation of intraocular lens 1 eye. There was a general tendency of visual acuity to improve after surgery, except in one eye that developed proliferative vitreoretinopathy secondary to retinal detachment.
