Incidence of cataract in health-check program for adults

（P3-3-4）　人間ドックの受診者445例890眼について，水晶体混濁の頻度と背景要因を検索した。男性287例，女性158例であり作年齢は21歳から84歳で，平均50.4歳であった。受診者は40歳から50歳代に極大があり，男性は女性の約2倍であった。白内障は252人（56.5％）にあり，高齢になるにつけ頻度が高く，女性にやや多かった。型別では皮質型が約7割で最も多かった。糖尿病，高血圧，貧血と白内障の間には相関はなかった。

We reviewed the incidence of cataract and background factors in 890 eyes of 445 persons who underwent health-check program for adults. The series comprised 287males and 158 females. The age ranged from 21 to 84 years, average 50.4 years. Persons in the age group of forties and fifties were the most frequent. Cataract was detected in 252 persons (56.5%). It was slightly more frequent in females and increased in frequency along with advance of age. Cortical cataract was the most frequent at about 70% of the total. The presence of cataract was related neither with diabetes, systemic hypertension nor anemia.
