  • Abstract

We reviewed 14 eyes of 14 patients with high myopic which underwent cataract surgery. The refraction averaged -8.6 diopters. The 14 eyes were randomly divided into two groups comprising 7 eyes each. One group received intracameral irrigation of 0.2% lidocaine in addition to conventional topical anesthesia. This group showed significantly lesser pain than the other group. There was no difference in the reduction of corneal endothelial cells between both groups. The findings show the usefulness of the present procedure for cataract surgery in high myopic eyes.
