　6ジオプトリー以上の近視がある大学生41名67眼の眼底を検査し，アンケートにより自覚症状を調べた．男性23名，女性18名であった。格子状変性が14眼（21％），網膜裂孔が9眼（13％），裂孔原性網膜剥離が4眼（6％）にあった。このうち自覚症状があったのは1名のみであった。中等度以上の若年近視者には時無症状であってもこれらの眼底異常が頻発すること，そして網膜剥離の予防のために健康診断では眼底検査を含むべきことが結論される。

We examined 67 eyes of 41 college students with myopia of 6 diopters or greater. The series comprised 23 males and 18 females. Funduscopy led to the detection of lattice degeneration 14 eyes (21% ) , retinal break 9 eyes (13%) and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment 4 eyes (6% ) . Subjective symptoms were present in only one out of these cases. The findings show that above fundus disorders may be present in college students with moderate to advanced myopia without subjective symptoms. We advocate fundus examination during regular health check program to facilitate early detection and prophylaxis of retinal detachment.
