  • Look Inside

We evaluated 6 cases of traumatic optic neuropathy by quantitating the central scotoma and taking into account the retinocortical magnification factor. The series comprised 4 eyes which recovered visual acuity of 0.7 or more and 2 eyes which failed to show improvement. All the 4 eyes with favorable outcome showed critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) greater than 10 Hz at the initial examination. The 2 eyes with poor outcome failed to respond to CFF stimulus. The final visual acuity was inversely correlated with the area of central scotoma within 5 degrees from the fixating point.
