Surgical outcome for exotropia after prism adaptation test

　88例の間歇性外斜視患者を対象に，術前のプリズムアダプテーションテストの有効性を検討した。初回のプリズムアダプテーションテストによって生じた斜視角の変化量により，患者を2つのグループに分類した。術前のプリズムアダプテーションテストで測定された斜視角をもとに手術を全例に施行した。88例中71例（81％）が術後1年目に正位から10△以内におさまった。初回のプリズムアダプテーションテストで生じた斜視角の変化量と手術成績には有意な関係はみられなかった。

We evaluated the efficacy of preoperative prism adaptation in 88 patients with intermittent exotropia. They were divided into 2 groups according to the magnitude of change in the angle of deviation during the initial prism adaptation test. All the patients underwent surgery for the angle of deviation determined by prism adaptation test. At one year after surgery, 71 patients, 81%, showed deviations between 0 to 10 prism diopters. There was no significant correlation between the surgical outcome and the changes in the angle of deviation by the initial prism adaptation test.
