  • Look Inside

We evaluated the clinical effects and adverse side effects in 18 patients of Behcet disease treated by systemic cyclosporin for 2 years or longer. When judged by frequency of ocular inflammatory attacks, the treatment was effective in 13 patients, 72%, during the first one year. After two years, the beneficial effect tended to decline, presumably due to reduced dosage of cyclosporin because of renal dysfunction which was the major complication of treatment. Generally, the frequency of side effects increased along with the duration of treatment.
