We evaluated the contrast sensitivity and glare in 60 pseudophakic eyes. Ultraviolet-absorbing intraocular lens (IOL) was worn by 30 eyes and noncyanopsia IOL was worn by 30 eyes. The latter lens was designed to effectively absorb wave-lengths below 500nm. The pupil diameter was set at 3mm. Eyes wearing noncyanopsia IOL showed improved contrast sensitivity in the middle range of spatial frequencies in photopic and mesopic vision, resulting in reduction of directional glare.
