  • Look Inside

We reviewed the results of corneal regrafting in 24 eyes after initial failure of penetrating kerato-plasty. The findings were compared with another series of 23 eyes that underwent penetrating kerato-plasty for bullous keratopathy (BK). The graft survival rate by the third year was 39% for the regraft group and 53% for BK group. Allograft rejection developed in 50% of regraft group and in30% of BK group. Postoperative glaucoma occur-red in 38% in regraft group and in 17% of BK group. Postoperative corneal neovascularization tended to be more severe in the regraft than in the BK group. There was no difference in the rate of endothelial cell loss between the two groups as far as the eyes were free of allograft rejection.
