　回折型多焦点眼内レンズ移植を行った53名80眼の術後視機能について検討した。

　術後3か月の裸眼視力は遠見0.5以上近見0.4以上の症例は41％，約−0.5Dの矯正では遠見0.5以上近見0.4以上の症例は84％に達し，同時に施行したアンケート結果からもほとんどの症例で屋内での日常生活は眼鏡なしで行えていると考えられた。

　しかし，単焦点眼内レンズ移植眼と比較して，矯正視力，空間コントラスト感度の高周波成分の若干の低下が観察され，また高齢者ほど視力の回復に日数のかかる傾向があった。以上の結果より回折型多焦点眼内レンズ移植の適応について考按を加えた。

We evaluated the visual functions in 80 eyes following cataract surgery with implantation of diffractive multifocal intraocular lens (IOL). The uncorrected visual acuity was better than 0.5 in the distance and 0.4 in the near in 41% of the eyes. Visual acuity was better than 0.5 in the distance and 0.4 in the near in 84% of eyes when corrected for the far vision by glasses. Inquiries by question-naire showed that hte majority of patients did not need glasses in their ordinary life. The present group showed less favorable corrected visual acuity and decreased high frequency regions of spatial contrast sensitivity than in eyes with monofocal IOLs.
