ぶどう膜炎による黄斑浮腫に対する高気圧酸素治療

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for cystoid macular edema in uveitis

　黄斑浮腫が視力低下の原因と考えられたぶどう膜炎7例11眼に対して14〜17日間，高気圧酸素治療を行った。治療終了時には6眼（55％）で2段階以上の視力改善が得られたが，治療効果を維持できたのはぶどう膜炎発症から高気圧酸素治療までの期間が短かった1眼と高気圧酸素治療終了後も酸素吸入を続けた3眼であった。高気圧酸素治療は他の治療法が無効な場合には試みてもよい治療法であると考えられる。

We treated 7 cases, 11 eyes, who manifested cystoid macular edema secondary to uveitis with hyperbaric oxygen. In each session, the patient was placed in a hyperbaric chamber at 2 atmospheres and inhaled pure oxygen with a mask for 1 hour. This session was repeated daily for 14 to 17 days.Immediately at the end of treatment, the visual acuity improved by 2 lines or more in 6 of the 11 eyes, 55%. Improvement in vision persisted only in 1 eye with macular edema of recent onset and in 3 eyes which were placed under further oxygen ther-apy. The findings suggest the occasional beneficial effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for cystoid macular edema in uveitis.
